Baker Mayfield wants nothing to do with Hue Jackson

Hue Jackson’s attempt to make nice with Baker Mayfield didn’t go very well.

Following the Browns’ 35-20 victory over the Bengals on Sunday in Cincinnati, where Jackson is currently employed, Cleveland’s former head coach tried to embrace Mayfield on the field but received a simple handshake from the quarterback instead.

“Left Cleveland, goes down to Cincinnati. I don’t know. That’s just somebody that’s in our locker room asking for us to play for him and then goes to a different team we play twice a year. Everybody can have their spin on it, but that’s how I feel,” Mayfield said during the postgame press conference.

Jackson was fired by the Browns last month and swiftly moved on to the team’s AFC North rival. He is the current special assistant to Cincinnati coach Marvin Lewis.

Mayfield wasn’t the only Browns player to get in on the Jackson mocking. Safety Damarious Randall gifted his former coach the ball after intercepting it from Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton.

Jackson previously served as the Bengals’ offensive coordinator from 2014 to 2015, before joining the Browns in 2016. He is rumored to be Lewis’ replacement should Cincinnati move Lewis into an executive role.
